PassageMaker Sourcing Solutions’ China operations director Mike Bellamy shared practical tips on supplier negotiations and purchase orders as part of China Sourcing Fair’s How to Source From China seminar series being held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
Bellamy provided his insights into why acquiring products directly from a factory is better than going through a middleman. He also gave several hints on how to select sourcing agents and trading companies.
He also shared some steps vital in obtaining requests for quotes (RFQ), including research on potential suppliers and shortlisting candidates based on nonprice attributes. In addition, he discussed general negotiation tips for face-to-face meetings at the factory. These covered intellectual property protection, quality control stipulations, price agreements and payment terms.

China Sourcing Fairs spring 2011 electronics shows feature record 3,260 booths

Global Sources’ largest-ever spring electronics sourcing trade shows bring together a record of more than 3,260 booths, growing by 23 percent from the spring events last year.
The new Solar & Energy Saving Products fair alone features nearly 200 booths exhibiting energy-efficient lighting and accessories, LED displays and commercial lighting, and solar and wind power products.
Combined, the events are showcasing the largest group of mainland China suppliers to exhibit at any electronics trade show in Hong Kong with over 2,700 booths featuring mainland China suppliers.
This is followed by Hong Kong and Taiwan with more than 460 booths. Exhibitors from Australia, India, Italy, Japan, Germany, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea are also taking part in the Fairs.
Among the tens of thousands of buyers who preregistered to attend the shows are Best Buy, Black & Decker, Bosch Security, Chubb, Dell, Flextronics, General Electric, Honeywell, Hyundai, Kaufland, Lexmark, LG Electronics, Logitech, Microsoft, Mitsubishi Electric, Monster, Motorola, Panasonic, Samsung and TCL.
